Brandon Piekarsky, 17, was acquitted of third-degree murder and ethnic intimidation, while Derrick Donchak, 19, was acquitted of aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation. Both were convicted of simple assault late Friday, after a trial in which jurors were left to sort out the facts of an epithet-filled brawl that pitted popular football players against a 25-year-old Hispanic man, Luis Ramirez, who appeared willing to fight.

The fight began late July 12 when a half-dozen teens, all Shenandoah residents who played football at Shenandoah Valley High School, were walking home from a block party and came across Mr. Ramirez and his 15-year-old girlfriend in a park. (that's illegal)

But the jury sided with defense attorneys, who called Mr. Ramirez the aggressor and characterized the brawl as a street fight that ended tragically.

"The 25-year-old Mexican immigrant had settled in Shenandoah a year before his death with his wife, a lifelong resident of the faltering mining town, and their young children."

Mr. Ramirez moved to the town about seven years ago from Iramuco, Mexico, working in a factory and picking strawberries and cherries.

There was limited information about how this occurred in your article. There is no way to determine how anyone should feel about it. Tha's CNN for you.

>> racism is dead in these disunited states.

Once again, your own racism is apparent.

There are two key lines in that story you found it uninteresting to highlight:

a) "In my mind it was the lack of evidence to tie these kids to the serious charges that they brought," defense lawyer Frederick Fanelli said."

b) "Prosecutors alleged that the teens baited the Ramirez into a fight with racial epithets".

Item (a) above tells the story. The prosecutors didn't prove their case.

Item (b suggests that while the prosecutors alleged a mild racist connection (simply shouting racial epithets may or may not be racist, depending on the circumstances. Moreover, it is not apparent from your quoted article that there was evidence to prove it true.

You are quick to jump on the "racist" bandwagon, ostensibly because of your own racist mentality.
