The smartest members of our species like Krugman, are usually ignored by the masses. They have been, throughout history, Galileo, Copernicus, Einstein.

Peole get in a rut in their thinking, and don't work to move from the concrete to the abstract (develop thoughts as Lewis Black says-lol) which is required to wrap their minds around abstract concepts put forth by the great minds that are counter intuitive to the concrete thinkers.

E.g. the world looks flat, but it is round-lol.

Ancient Greeks in Athens knew the world was round in 350 BC. But they were big thinkers. Then all that knowledge got lost for the next 2,000. What a shame.
