More likely they were pelted with pennies.

Probably so. But the incident happened. The Brits have never been very nice to the Colonial troops they sent over the top. As you well know.

The U.S. Marines bypassed some union bludgers in Wellington on their way to invade Guadalcanal...

The transport ships were so improperly loaded at the U.S. ports that much of the equipment needed in combat -- ammunition and vehicles with which to move them -- had been stored at the bottom of the deep holds of the transport ships instead of on top. In New Zealand, the tightly unionized longshoremen, called "wharfies," staged so many work stoppages that the marines took over as stevedores along Aotea Quay to rearrange the cargoes themselves. Someone scrawled on an outhouse wall "All wharfies is bastards."

Very good actors memorize their lines. Obama relies on cue cards.

Obama is a very good actor.
