<<Haven't you heard? We're going to "stimulate" ourselves out of this mess, i.e. grow our way into bigger government.>>

The US would implode economically if this artificial "stimulus" were to be removed. Implosion would be inevitable if the federal budget deficit of $US 1.75 TRILLION was taken out of the $US 14.3 TRILLION GDP. If federal taxes were to be raised by that $US 1.75 TRILLION to balance the US budget, the added tax burden would bury the US economy. Whatever the Obama administration does, the US is looking at a deep recession/depression. It is being deferred but cannot be avoided. Meanwhile, the costs climb.

The US is in a classic historical debt trap where government debts expand faster than the civil economy is growing.

Of course, when pork projects like John Murtha airport is considered "stimulus" by numerous people on this thread, I personally hold very little faith that we'll ever get there.

Barack Obama has taken the country from the edge of an economic cliff and has pulled us back at least 100 feet. The rest of America recognizes that fact even as you make your snide and less than honest remarks.
