My understanding, gained from years of reading this and that, is that DIETARY cholesterol is pretty much irrelevant to the amount of cholesterol circulating in the blood. Is your understanding different from that?

No.

To be honest at this point my eyes sort of glaze over when it comes to discussing cholesterol as cause or association. I’m familiar with docs for whom cholesterol in general is the bees knees, usually cardiologists on all expense paid tickets, to those who think it’s (almost) irrelevant. I think it's important enough to monitor it and drill down into particle size etc. I think you are right about dietary cholesterol. On a day to day basis I am more concerned with arterial fat in general and on eating good fats as opposed to bad ones. I also believe that too much of a good thing can become harmful. I am lucky to not have weight problems, I keep an eye on things by avoiding junk and processed foods and by regularly eating healthy wholesome ones. GIGO is my fundamental operating principle.
