Every cabinet member needed to be en pointe.

Not the state department nor the CIA.

Every frigging member of Bush's cabinet had responsibility for what was going down in New Orleans.

They had responsibility for a flood that was induced by the local government not having had a plan to evacuate its people? From a below-sea-level-bowl, surrounded by water at sea level, in which the dead must be buried above ground to avoid hitting water?

They had responsibility, when they stood up on national television before the hurricane and all but DEMANDED the local officials evacuate the city? They had responsibility when the local officials provided only the Superdome as a shelter, with enough supplies and facilities capability to last a full FOUR HOURS?

You want to blame the Bush Administration when federal funding under prior administrations was allocated to solve the problem, yet local officials chose to divert those funds to other matters?

You want to blame the Bush Administration when refugees who tried to escape by walking over the Connection were turned back at gunpoint by local Gretna police?

You want to blame the federal government because there was not one viable freeway that would take you into the city where the people were from any direction to deliver supplies?

You want to blame Bush because Nagin didn't have the good sense to use the available buses to get people out of the area, despite warnings from every knowledgeable person on the subject?

I don't know why you insist that I prove what a hateful partisan tool you are over and over and over again but so be it.

"But dicey Ricey was in NYC shoe shopping....."

Sept 2, 2005
Secretary Rice: "Organizations like the United Nations, NATO, the Organization of American States, the European Union, and others are showing their solidarity with us during this time.

You have the updated list of countries from every corner of the globe that are offering their help, countries like Canada and Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Israel, China, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, El Salvador, Australia, Turkey and many others. I want to note in particular that we received a generous offer of support from Sri Lanka, a country that, as we speak, is still recovering from its own massive natural disaster. Every contribution is important; and over the past few days, I have been in contact with a wide range of officials from other nations and international organizations to respond to these offers of support."

"I think that, obviously, when something like this happens -- we had a task force set up, we had to make certain that everybody knew the vehicle to use to channel contributions."
