"It isn't absurd and in fact Jim Powell wrote an excellent book on the subject."

This is the same Jim Powell who claims that Woodrow Wilson was responsible for the rise of Fascism and the Nazi's in the 1920s and 1930s. Not because of any policy, but because by entering the war, he broke the stalemate allowing the British and French to win.

No doubt that book is chock full of similar 'reasoning'. Going down the list of reviewers you posted only strengthens that impression. Let's see. Milton Friedman. Scion of the Chicago School of economics. Their hallmark was promoting the economic policies that threaten the world economy at this very moment. Their reputation, like Friedman's, is more than a little tarnished at the moment.

P.J. O’Rourke. I like a lot of his work. But he is a libertarian of the first water. Not exactly an objective reviewer.

James M. Buchanan. You are kidding, right? Another extreme libertarian.

These three, naturally, are going to latch onto anything which tracks with their central beliefs.
