You are a funny, funny man.

Because, based on the reviews, it is a waste of time.

That explains it. With the 'knowledge' of economics you display, you couldn't have understood it.

Certainly that was a problem. But by letting wages drop, the debt load would have overwhelmed what little of the financial system that was still intact. That would have been a bigger disaster. Unless you, like Tim, wants to pretend that debt wasn't a problem at the time?
