There has been a lot of doom and gloom coming from the left wing over the past few years (See Al Gore), mostly as some sort of reactive angst directed at the right wing. We've got lots of problems to solve and I like Obama so far.

However, I am not ready to admit Obama is the only answer to problems. The predictions for economic recovery have pretty much followed a natural course. It is true that the Government needs to have effective leadership and leadership that inspires confidence in the masses but lets not get carried away.

When I was young I caught a cold and my mother took me to the Doctor. I asked if he could cure my cold. He said, I could take the cold medicine, which should help me feel better, eat right, and rest up and that I should be cured in about a week, or I could do nothing at all and it might drag on for seven days or so. Then we both laughed. Of course he said if I didn't rest, drink plenty of fluids, etc I could end up with a secondary bacteria infection that would make my misery last longer.

The predictions for economic recovery have been from late 2008 to 2010 just on the natural economic cycle. We can do a lot of stuff to feel better in the mean time, lets hope we don't do dumb stuff that will make it last longer.

"WTF are you talking about?"

So far the nation's economy seems to be following a natural recovery cycle. Some people are claiming we are having a bear rally and some are claiming we have reached bottom and are beginning a true recovery...time will tell. Confidence seems to be up and that may be the most significant factor in making things happen.

However, you can take money from the government coffers and spread it around giving the impression that we have wealth, when in fact we are don't, we have massive debt. We need to begin producing new wealth or when this stimulus is gone we will be in worse shape than before. Which seems counter to most extreme left wing thinking.
