Kids who are born with FAS have problems that stem back to before they were born, parent problems. Often times the person who bore the child has serious problems of her own, alcoholism for one but alcoholism is usually entangled with lots a nasty stuff. Such a person is not prepared to provide the proper nurturing, encouragement, and guidance for the baby with FAS. These babies grow up with very serious issues far beyond the underlying FAS. That is a simple fact which I pointed out.

"Kids with FAS due to no fault of their own have enough problems without raising more potential problems."

Willingness to face the truth is not 'raising more potential problems,' it is the first step in being able to deal with real problems and avoid the creation of spring board problems. Neglect of a problem situation by refusing to recognize it is what raises more potential problems. WRT alcoholism it's called enablement. You have some major gaps in knowledge about social ills tejek. Perhaps you could to add that one to your current list of self help topics (anger management, homophobia, +Alcoholism)
