JLA has said only a partisan hack would claim there was a recession if there were not two consecutive quarters of negative gdp growth:

We didn't have two consecutive quarters of negative gdp growth in 2001 but JLA talks about that being a recession.

That makes JLA, by his own definition, a partisan hack. Now we all know he's one of the biggest partisan hacks out there, but it's nice to hear him say it in his own words...
