LOL. you can have everything a lexus has fundamentally or an acura, by buying the manufacturer's name brand.. at about 25k less.

LOL.

the difference between the name plate and value to say the least.

TJ, I'm all for economic growth, but to say Japan is "dying" because they are not breeding like bunnies in Malthusian MADness is ridiculous.

Consider several countries of similar size: Britain, California, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ethiopia, South Africa, Peru, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey... as you can see, there are many ways to live.

Having a lot of people does NOT automatically lead to wealth or Pakistan would be full of Lexus instead of Islamic Jihad. Having mostly sheep instead of people such as NZ doesn't mean poverty. What matters is the quality of the people and what they do.

Japan has built a great place with swishy Shinkansen, international airports, huge industries, fibre everywhere etc.

To say they are "dying" means no more than to point out that all of us have a terminal illness. Even with a low birth rate, it'll take them a very long time to get their numbers down to NZ's. If they do, it's not particular problem.

Switzerland has few people and they do just fine.

Neither is the transition problematic. If they want low paid help, they can move to India [or New Zealand during summer for a nice climate to go with it]. They could take over Zimbabwe and make it "Little Japan" which would provide a lot of work for otherwise desperate people.

Japan with 50 million people would be just fine.

If Japan wants something to worry about, they should worry about the reglaciation which is coming. It'll get cold up north. ... Edit.. now that I look at the map, Japan isn't far north so they'd be okay [if cold during winter]. They should also worry about Tunguska type bolides causing large waves in the Pacific Ocean [NZers should worry about that too - and I do, living sensibly 70m above sea level and hidden behind some large islands and mountain ranges].

The association of car brands and types with people varies by the area of the US. Here in Northern California, there is a pretty wide range of people who buy Lexus cars. Same with Mercedes.

For certain car models, the specificy of the people that buy it is very strong.

I learned that at least on the West Coast, Chevy Camaros are a frequency choice for people who are on probation... that is not so bad in the rest of the US.

Ford Mustang drivers seem to be more law abiding, or at least have not been caught yet, and they have fewer visible tatoos.

Jeep drivers still tend to wave at each other.

I don't know enough Mini drivers to really comment, but it looks like a young demographic around here.

the demographic time bomb is now in full flower in Japan...it's a sort of anti-Malthusian problem - Japan is dying.

And this is only the begining! Wait ten years more.

Europe will follow in a decade. They will need to import Moslems and Africans by the boat load

Luckly the US and Canada atract lots immigrants from LATAM to keep the vitality of the countries.
