MU 1987 data for those that don't have access to 87 charts. My
data is from TC2000, and MU data goes back to 8-26-85. To
make a reasonable comparison, which is adjusted for splits,
multiple the data below by 10.

I was 100% cash over the weekend, and went short in
MU this morning at 28 7/8. Tomorrow can hold anything,
but I am going to hold my shorts for several days, I think.
I'm sure that the bears, which is most on this thread
lately, would like to compare today to Oct 16, 87, with
the real plunge to come. Anything is possible, like TK
speaking and screwing everthing up.

david, please specify what you mean when you say "cost" mu sold about 100 million units last q at $6.50. they earned about $50 million in their semi sales.

in other words, they earned, net, $0.65 per ic sold. that means their net cost was near $6.

this is very rough as there are many factors, but $4.50 is absurd as a net cost.

companies go bankrupt even when their gross cost is below their asp - YOU MUST ADD IN OVERHEAD.

btw, i think everyone is losing money. the question now is, how much money can the various companies lose and stay in the game. mu is very near the bottom of that list.

great process manufacturers. immoral hypesters, imho. extremely bad industry and getting worse. ridiculous valuation at current levels. bad market environment. EXTREMELY BAD NEWS DUE NEXT MONTH FOR THE BIG BOYS AND IN DECEMBER FOR THE SUCKERS.

go long and you risk a lot.

btw, when you don't respond to the cogent points i make i feel good as it is easier to ignore reality than address it with facts. ;-)

however, you are making progress ;-)

david-

i did not say the asians are making money on 16Mb parts. i said i THINK they are making money on 64Mb parts right now.

in addition, our estimate of 4.50 was the absolute lowest i think we could come up with. there has been SPECULATION by analysts that production costs mey be as low as 4.00, but, even at 4.00, they are still going to be loosing money soon.

heres a tip....before you JUMP DOWN MY THROAT, read my posts carefully. david, you obviously have some kind of problem with me. if you had read my posts, you would know i am NOT a 'forever bear'.

good luck to all,
trey
