Anyone have an opinion as to why the Monolines seem to be on fire the past this week? PPIP?

I think its a combination of things.......there's their attempts to separate out the more profitable aspects of their biz:

I also think their recent move is speculative off of housing bottoming and really they are the last of the financials to recover.....banks, and insurers have been moving up for weeks now.

I ask because I still am trying to confirm my theory that the financial insurers have to lead the financials to recovery.

My feeling its the banks that have to lead. What do others think?
