Jet fuel isn't a fixed cost, dumbass. It is probably the most variable of any cost in an airline operation. Just like taxes.

If jet fuel goes up, airlines raise prices -- which is what they did. If taxes go up, airlines raise prices.

Now, if they raise prices high enough, people will quit flying.

It is beside the point. Corporations never pay income taxes. They are tax collectors for amounts paid by their customers.
