That's interesting, Tom.

I hadn't thought about it that way but I suppose that you are right.

(American media has been increasingly homogenized... corporate mergers, cross-ownership and the Info-tainment focus away from hard news has produced exactly what you allude to --- a banality in our news, a sameness.)

However --- to extrapolate from the same observation that you made, there are quite a number of clearly sectarian and propagandistic news outlets in Lebanon (some owned and operated by Syrian allied factions, others by different factions and sects...) --- and I would not necessarily want to see the problem of 'blandness in American news' "solved" by the introduction of evermore extreme propaganda outlets.

So... I suppose that's a coin with at least TWO faces, Thomas. :-)
