China seems like an obvious market for Canadian lumber, but TJ disdains houses built out of "wooden sticks." ;)

Europe had people, no resources, US had resources no people, huddled masses poured into Ellis Island. Labor contributed.

Ford and Taylor, knew it and devised means to extract more contribution from labor given the technology at hand then.
They also paid more for that contribution so that the money would return to automaking as people bought cars.

Put women to work and you would create even more contribution.
Unions almalgamated contribution and pressed capital for gains.
Women ot of the houses crated household appliances market.
Incomes raised, and here comes consumption society

By WWII end, science and technology had progressed and automation kicked up. Labor unions had a countervaling power.

Note your products are for a place who use too less manpower...
