The Chinese are not big holders of the long-dated treasuries, they've focused mostly on short and IT bonds. So you're (mostly) right that Obama didn't matter. However, it may have still been a factor for those that DID participate.

4.3% on a 30 year instrument in this climate is frankly insane, and I'm short the long bonds through TBT, so I hope it continues.
