Buyers find hot bargains in Florida

I talked to a customer from NY the other day; he had just come back from Cape Coral-Fort Myers house hunting for investment and eventual retirement. He was clearly in shock at the prices. He said "WTF happened, it's great down there!?! How could things possibly get so bad that they are giving away houses and condos? It's beyond anything I've ever seen!".

I tried to explain it to him, but he just couldn't grasp that it could happen in an efficient market.

But for anyone with the money and the tolerance for the hassle of investment property, this stuff is the steal of the century.

It got as crazy on the downside as it did on the upside three years ago. That's the nature of markets like FLA and CA.
