It demonstrates a lack of faith in the students to get a long with each other in a real life, real time manner. It also demonstrates the declining role of parents in a child's upbringing. Schools are increasingly relied upon as day care centers where teachers act as virtual nannies. State-funded after-school programs are a substitute for real parental guidance and mentorship.
