I read/heard someplace -- sorry to be allegorical -- that cell phones are designed for about 2 years of life.

Here is some -- call it -- evidence: answerbag.com

You can get 3-4 out of a laptop, but not if you travel.

My oldest desktop lasted about 7.

I still have my first CDMA phone from Q (1998). Every time I lose or drop my phone in the toilet (done both), I fire it up and it still works great.

I can't believe between, wear and tear, functional obsolescence, and Moore's Law that replacement cycles will shrink in the near to mid-term future.

But that's pure WAGGETY WAG WAG on my part.
