When you're unable to come up with an intelligent response you would be better off not responding.

you're begging for some other kind of approval

Our laws should specify what intel interrogators can and can't do if politicians who approved of eit at one time later decide it was wrong and want to punish the people who relied on their oversight as approval.

How is it that unbelievers make appeals to absolute moral standards, which if there is no God, do not exist?

As a believer living in an imperfect world, I can weigh choices - which is worse? Being mean to mass murderers who likely have information about planned attacks or letting compassionate treatment of those mass murderers enable them to keep secrets that will cost lives? I imagine Pelosi, who claims to be Catholic, made a similar weighing back in 2002 and 2003. I think she should have kept the courage of her original convictions.

As to the "losing side", I'd love to see a national referendum on the issue of whether Bush was too mean on terrorists.
