I've been following the exchange between ponokee and Neeka (due to the fact that it comes up when I hit 'next post')and I felt like commenting, for no particular reason. While Neeka made a good point about 'what it means to be an American', it didn't really address the guy busted for some pills on the Canadian border, which ponokee had used to illustrate some other point, now obscured by my poor memory and laziness. While Ponokee did take a gratuitous swipe with the use of "you southern Baptists", I tend to overlook that, recognizing that some people reflexively use the 'Jane you ignorant slut' gambit, never having been through marriage counseling, and that he/she has been inoffensive otherwise. Not really going anyplace with this, just felt like typing this morning, I guess. Or maybe I was surprised by the 14 recommendations for Neekas post (a person I like, admire and support, generally).
