James, b/c those assets are worthless. PPIP isn't going anywhere. geithner said as much last thursday. their focus the next 3-4 weeks is to cram PPIP down our throats.

for our good, of course. the bankers don't want the trillions. we have to force it on them.

Because they can still 69 'em to each other and come out way ahead.....essentially it improves their leverage ratio while still meeting regulatory requirements. Of course, so does abandonment of MTM.....
