I notice an overall decline which I notice on people above 45 years old who had worked a long time as employees of the same company. I call them "devagar quase parando".

I did not know that it had a correlation with education level.

In Siemens they by that age had lost all their motivation. From mid-80s onwards, technology was moving fast, they could no longer keep pace and were continuosly being left behind. Because of that they were mostly seating there waiting for their retirement.

Before technology moved slowly and they could keep pace since the improvements were incremental. In telecoms when you see this name generation or G it is a term that no longer makes sense.

The term generation was applied when you had a product with just marginal modifications. Nowadays you just fork-lift it, throw it away and replace it by a new platform although they still use the term generation.

Something like this. You did wit vaccum tubes, the next generation was done with transistors, then the next was implemented by integrated circuits, then you had the first digital program controlled and so it went.

I keep making the connection between technology and the men around it.
