in the end, his only real prescription is that the Republicans show everyone how smaller government will somehow be the new Nirvana the electorate is craving. Why will it appeal? Well, it's the Republican philosophy so it must be cool, right?

Just more dogma that focuses on quantity not quality. My favorite sentence in the piece…Conservatism is the political belief that best mirrors human nature across time and space. In my view Hanson mistakes a few crumbs or aspects of conventional truth, for the whole enchilada.

Why Did Republicans Lose Their Appeal?
And how can they get it back?

My image of republicans today is this mean spirited hate filled bunch of angry men - Rush Limbaugh.

Victors rambling look for blame, misses the most important issue leading to their recent failure IMO - religion. Over and over again on issues, the push to direct government based on religion just always get them in trouble. Gays, stem cell research, abortion, right to die with dignity - all these issues placing the heavy force of government on people just turns many of us away. Even discussing Palin, Victor rambles on blaming her failure on "press demonization"? Should republicans believe this crap they will wither further.

I like the idea of smaller government. Let's close down the CDC and the National Hurricane Center :>)
