Hardly. If the left defines what will be considered a hate crime by the law then presumably it can target activities (both actual hate crimes, and things which shouldn't be considered hate crimes) more likely to occur on the right.

My main concern (and apparently that of the author of the piece) was suppression of free speech and extra attention to the idea of victim classes, rather than a greater use of such laws against conservatives. I want the free speech rights of liberals protected as well.
