Regarding the SE Asian currency turmoil, the press seems to be missing some major points.
First, for a multinational company like TI, weaker foreign currencies mean lower costs in the countries it manufactures chips. Lower costs are highly desireable in manufacturing.
Second, chip makers in Japan and the rest of Asia Pacific are scaling back production capability and capital spending in response to the currency crisis. This means global supply of chips will decrease, and if demand doesn't completely dry up, prices will strengthen, even for DRAM.
Third, AP economies are still fundamentally sound. They still have very high savings rates, low tax rates and put a premium on education. Perhaps most importantly, China appears to be weathering the crisis and can pull the rest of the region through the rough times.
Forth, the currency crisis effectively prevents the Fed from raising interest rates. As soon as some of these positive factors come to light I think we'll see a nice bounce in TXN and other high techs that have been hammered to very attractive levels.

You were indeed wise to sell at 132 .i hope that 105 is a good place to nibble also. Thanks for the message ---I held all the way down so I have a long way to go to catch back up.I hope we don't go down farther for any extended period. I tend to change my openion back and forth each day ---always returning to the positive but a little more cautious each time.
