It had to be done. Else international trade would have remained frozen. The precariousness of the international banking system was why the letters of credit weren't being accepted by shippers. Bailing out AIG solved that. There might have been a better, cheaper way, but the clock was ticking.


When it comes to AIG, I don't think it was Geitner......I think Paulson was still on the scene.
