A replay of the late '70s would be just fine in lieu of the alternative.

I don't have any stats but I bet the numbers for those on fixed income are a lot higher now than in the 70s. Lots more retirees. Most on soc sec are on fixed income, and those with investments are a lot worse off now than then. Income shrinking fast when inflation heads higher. What the effect is on society is beyond my ability to guess. Very scary.
