The more that dropped out, the better. Iridium going belly up should have been a GOOD thing,

Your main competitor going Bankrupt is seldom a GOOD thing. Bankruptcy doesn't mean, dropping out. It usually means new management (owners) with a drastically reduced debt load that will allow them to slash pricing against those that still have huge debt loads to service. ICO and Teledesic dropping out was a sign of lack of market for these services.

If Iridium had so much business that they were turning away customers.. That would have been a good thing. Especially since Globalstar in theory had much lower cost basis. But, make no mistake about it. Iridium being unable to find enough customers to make a go of it so quickly spelled doom for their competitors also...

Anyone trying to tell you that. Well, this is different because ________________ (fill in the blank).. i.e. Qualcomm, CDMA, Bent Pipe, Blah,Blah, Blah was luring you down the road of financial ruin.

Both of these companies battled for profitability with FREE satellites. I don't think things look different this time with a Billion or Three in debt.

At least Globalstar owns many of the "Exit 1's" this time, so they can get a higher cut of the margin.

Reading through some FCC documents. It looks like Globlastar fancies the next Gateways in the Philippines, and the Middle East or Northern Africa for the proximity to the Shipping lanes.

If you look at the coverage map. Seems like the Seychelles would be the best choice for a Northern/Eastern Africa Gateway. At least as far a Govt. stability factor goes.

Wonder how things are going in Nigeria (Gateway build) and South Africa (Local SP)?
