When I say the issue is "media" not "corporate media", I don't mean that what happens with corporate media is unimportant or irrelevant, but rather that its the overall diversity that's important not the diversity of a sub sector defined by the organization structure of the providers.

If the corporate media became less diverse (something I myself find questionable in broad terms, but it may have declined from some specific previous higher point), but media in general (which includes corporate media) was more diverse than in terms of diversity the overall change is positive. That's what ""Corporate media" isn't the issue", means "not "corporate media doesn't matter".
