It is. The Earth moves at a glacial pace. We do not. It has been here far longer than we have.

Perhaps I misunderstood. You don't have to worry about the earth - it will be here long after we are gone. But we could change conditions here enough we don't survive - or that makes our survival more difficult. My point was meant to ask why we would worry about the newest sickness by a bacteria or virus - but be indifferent to turning our seas into dumping ground for our trash which might lead to changing conditions here on earth? Changing conditions that might make our survival more difficult.

But if you want to think of the "earth" - then my question again is ...."what would Jesus think of that ocean of plastic"?
