Not really... it was mostly creeks, and only a novice would fish a creek with the sun glaring in his face, for the fish may be stupid, but they aren't blind. In any event, unless one was a professional fisherman out on the water many hours per week, the UV entering they eyeball off a body of water during fishing would amount to, what, 1/10th of 1% of the overall UV absorbed from all other outdoor activity during an entire year? Oh, wait, I see you said my grandfather. He died a number of years ago. I think he retained his vision until the end.
