Interesting. These days, we see fascinating disparities between news "as reported" and "as posted" on SI. Example: tight credit since last fall. I've seen many posts indicating no substantial difference in credit availability. Others indicate creditworthy customers with healthy businesses, suddenly cut off.

After oil hit $147, I saw a noticeable decline in Vancouver rush-hour traffic that lasted until recently; now, it's crept back to normal.

This is a strange time. Just posted elsewhere that it reminds me of the Phony War in England, before Dunkirk. Lovely weather, fighting "over there", but life went on in a kind of suspended reality. Many respected observers say things are bad. So do the statistics. The Washington/Wall Street spin is that Things Are Getting Better. Listened to Meredith Whitney on banks this morning; reality is diametrically opposed to their stock performance, but the prices keep climbing.

Same with crude. Yet inventories are near capacity, and growing.

Something is wrong here. This can't last; it's denial, Big Time. I've gone to cash again, just like 2007.
