Well... if you can hire some 'kid' for half the pay, (or, better yet, outsource the job overseas at one sixth the cost), I think it's obvious what they are up to.

I think the problem traces back to the fact that our companies are tightly in the grip of the managers instead of the investors.

(The upper-level managers are mostly interested in arranging for a couple of years of multi-million dollar paychecks for themselves... reissuing and repricing giant options grants so they are always in the gravy... but the investors --- the putative OWNERS --- are given short-shrift. And the employees are the first to be tossed overboard....)
