Eric, that will only happen if the dollar is totally trashed. This country cannot afford $200 per bbl and prosper sufficiently to generate that kind of demand.

It may be possible that the dollar will be so trashed. It is on its way.

Gold is rallying nicely. However, TBT has fallen back. The picture is still mixed.

Eric, I agree. The weird thing is energy prices are subject to economic growth, and economic growth is subject to energy prices. So it's a mutual check.

But the check only works for so long... then peak oil will overwhelm any economic stagnation, and the result will suddenly be a multiplying factor. Oil prices, which effect every good and service and everything we do on a daily basis, will continue up despite the economy. In the meantime oil prices are a continual regulator on our economy... we can't go over a some certain (perpetually decreasing) growth rate without throwing out the anchor of oil costs.

That's our race; to that point in time where things really break bad WRT supply/demand. Some of us recognize it and some don't. We need to win that race.
