We know that now.

But we could not have known it without the Iraq War. We could have suspected it (although, our CIA and no other significant Western intelligence agency did), but we could not have known it.

And we could not have insured if, for example, an extremely misguided, inexperienced liberal were to be voted in as American president, the new president would have taken the correct actions to prevent Iraq from carrying out its nuclear objectives.

Nobody is talking about it, but the reality is there is no way in hell Saddam was going to sit idly by while Iran goes nuclear. Wasn't going to happen. At his first opportunity -- perhaps when a weak liberal got elected American president, Saddam absolutely would have been back in the race to go nuclear. And it would not have been difficult for him to do.
