this is a very conventional Infantry/Ranger Officer BIO.

At least he's "light Infantry." We have finally got rid of the Armor and Arty "Fulda Gap" types that ran the original Iraq war. No Flags left in charge from the Cold war now.

This relief reminds me of Lt. Col Paul Yingling's complaint that "as matters stand now, a private who loses a rifle suffers far greater consequences than a general who loses a war." Those days may be coming to an end.

He is the overall PR guy who faces outward to the world. His exec will be down on the ground with the troops. I suspect that they are going to apply the same "get the leaders" program that they used in Iraq for the last few years.

He was in the loop on the PR during the Paul Tillman mess.

One of the problems is that the real Religious fanatics running things in Afghan/Pakistan are the Mullahs. And we won't take them out. They remind me of the "Guru" who was head of the Thuggees in "Gunga Din."
