I work in a large LA hospital as an RN, business is way down. In the past I've made about 25% of my income as overtime pay. This year we have been told, NO overtime ever. I've been chastised for clocking out 1 minute over. As a per diem employee I could pick up as many hours as I wanted in the past, no more. How times have changed in one year. From feast to famine. Pretty scary since I thought my job was pretty much recession proof.

There are virtually NO jobs here for college graduates without a specialty niche. My son has picked the worst time in history to graduate from college.

Except for our ER, biz is down here too. When our patient census is down, they cancel your shift if you are an RN so you don't get laid off but you do work less.
