In preparation for the census, 140,000 address canvassers or "listers" have begun fanning out across their assigned regions to update and verify addresses. The listers verify existing addresses, add new addresses, and document dwellings that might include multiple residents. This year, for the first time, canvassers are equipped with a handheld computer that includes built-in GPS. The GPS (shown in photo) was custom-designed for the census by the Harris Company, and built by HTC. Originally intended for the main census, it appears that use of the handheld computer/GPS will be limited only to this year's listing phase, due to training and technical constraints. Robert LaMacchia, head of the Census Bureau's geography division, says they'll capture the latitude and longitude of the front door of every house, apartment and improvised shelter they find. "We will actually knock on doors and look for hidden housing units," he says. "We will find converted garages; from the outside, it may not look like anybody lives there..." ---This GPS mapping has been in the plans since 2006 and is being implemented now - in 2009 - so that the government will know every residence and hidden or unclaimed residence of the entire U.S. population... i have been with a fair amount of dismay reading the HYPOCRISY of a fair amount of the "Liberals", that howled and screamed when Bush blocked the release of photos in torture detention centers, and then cheered when Obama( Barack "there is NOT a promise i won't break" Obama) promised he would release these photos, are NOW saying he is going the right thing, as we more and more solidify the NeoLibNeoConPARTY, the one party that now rules america.(And as to the crackers in the head Far Right that scream Obamais socialst commie, it is Fascism that is actually forming.) Like Obama pumped he would get aid and support to protect people from banks foreclosing on them, but then behind the scenes he backs crushing such a bill, and allowed the No Mercy Bank policy to be intact--that is fascism, serve the banks, not the people. i have devilishes delight the irony when i see ultra far righters , howling Obama is a commie constantly and constantly quoting their Hero, George Orwell, who was a card carrying member of the British Socialist Party. BTW, Tony Judt was given special lifetime achievement award for his works this year by the George Orwell Society. **************************************** Well before this election i posted what i believe should have been the Campaign Song for Obama, as i had him down as a power seeking ambitios narcissus "smooth operator" , that wanted to be a part of the world the Power Dogs. i now know intuitions were CORRECT. People can do the reason game, but they don't really no. i feel ZERO obligation to participate in the trap that The Herd is now in.
