If the US open up the medical schools to foreign nationals like engineering schools, there won't be any shortage of doctors and the health care problem will fix itself.

And with law, you are typically dealing with money. In medicine, you are literally dealing with people's lives. I think the latter has to be way more stressful to deal with, plus all the ridiculous shifts that residents and interns have to pull.

I don't mean to denigrate any PhDs out there, but I think that MD schooling has to be the toughest of any profession.

I was surprised to hear that you are not getting all the shifts you want. About three days ago somebody on the radio from a hospital HR was talking about the nursing shortage and saying nurses can pretty much write their own job description.
