We can't do anything about OPEC cutting back production. And OPEC's market manipulations have generally worked to hold prices up which makes alternatives more competitive, not the other way round as you seem to think per this post.

Why would you expect a free market in oil, when much, maybe most, of the worlds production is controlled by governments and when there is no free market in anything else.
