So publish a standard discount schedule that's used for everybody
It shouldn't be too much to ask. After all, Intel's technology is so great that they shouldn't need to jump through hoops with crazy, NDA'ed discount schedules and rebates to get wins, right?
And yet they fight against this tooth & nail...


Because it sucks. You don't just put a product out there and wait for orders; you sell people on using your product. Not being able to make deals is a hell of a constriction. Price always matters.
But it's not the end of the world, either. Intel can do and does a lot of other things that add to the supplier relationship. They would just have to rely on them more.
