Let them explain why 160K free chips was better than 1M free chips.
Just to be argumentative... ;-)
There's free and then there's free:
1. Hey Dell; we just want to get our name out there. Here's a up to a million free CPU's for you to do with as you like.

2. Hey Dell; we just want to get our name out there. We will give you up to a million free CPU's as long as you promise to build them into computers. No dumping into the grey market or discarding.

"Comb, before you lend any more credence to their efforts to portray the free chips as unattractive due to quality or novelty..."

Yeah, that has been their tactic from the beginning. Like when Tenchu talks about the "dumped CPUs". Or when he puts 'superiority' in quotes.

You, however, do make an excellent point about the 160k that were taken.

160K were all the systems that the end users would buy -- free chips or not.
