That didn't change. The local prop tax money that supported local public schools started going down the first year Prop 13 was passed.

If prop 13 was repealed NOW, generations of Hispanic, black and poor white families with paid-off homes would be forced to leave CA. An unintended consequence.


Very true. Unwinding the impact of Prop 13 would be nearly catastrophic. When I first got to CA, I thought Prop 13 was such a cool idea. I couldn't understand why other states hadn't gone the same route. After leaving there, I began to understand why. The state is slowly 'starving' to death.

As soon as the growth slowed, Prop 13's warts began to show. It goes back to old adage......you don't get anything for free.
