Half the Republican establishment is rallying around Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney as their top leaders. The other half is launching a rebranding effort featuring the party's failed presidential candidate and their failed president's brother.

They are already two parties, they ought to formalize it and break off the "Conservative Party" headed by the likes of Cheney and Rush.

What I find intriguing is how terribly afraid the rest of the party is of Cheney and Rush. The more I hear about the stuff that went on during the Bush administration and the character and demeanor of the players, the more I realize how lucky we are to still have a democracy.
