Well, he needs to get the nose down, pop the flaps to keep the speed from ripping the wings off, GENTLY elevate the ailerons by pulling back on the stick like a bastard at the insane speeds he'll attain, and glide America in for a landing.

in short, the only way to avoid the depression is to not blow up the bubble in the first place.
