LOL. Nice try. No one really believes that. The fact is that the investments have been less than significant, especially under Bush Jr. A billion here or there is like turning off your cell phone and hoping that it has an impact on the US's energy usage. We need a massive and sustained investment over the next few decades, along with accompanying policy shifts. We've just now begun that effort and it will likely take the rest of my life before we've reached critical mass where renewable sources account for more than half of our energy usage. During that time, we are more than likely going to feel huge pain as fossil fuels reach peak supply and prices rise to crippling levels. The coming oil price spike is going to shock folks who thought $150 was high. Just wait. At $200, people are going to be begging our government to invest even more heavily in renewable energy and those politicians who oppose the public outcry will be making career limiting decisions. Mark my words. We're not far away from that scenario. Maybe even only 2-3 years away.
