EUR 800B bad assets in german banks alone, thats no shit. That´s like $15K bad assets per German, or 4.4T (US-$) in bad assets in U.S. banks.

Germany is about 1/4 the size of the US in GDP terms (the US had a GDP of some 14T, Germany, 3.6T unadjusted for PPP; adjusted it looks even worse).

To put this into perspective:
My baby-sized private pension plan (not administered by myself) lost 10.5% in 2008 (or an underperformance of 14% compared to its prescribed annual income), and is off another 1% this year (underperforming another 4%). In $ terms I see already well over $15k in damages.
